The media Development Authority has finally licensed broadband-market leader SingTel to roll out its commercial IPTV services, and the operator is now preparing to launch its HDTV-based offerings in 2H07. "We are pleased to obtain the license," Quek Peck Leng, executive vice president of SingTel's consumer division, told Asiacom. "This paves the way for every home in Singapore to access pay TV services in a new way." The MDA awarded the license to SingTel's broadband arm, SingNet, as part of its Jan. 15 unveiling of a two-tier IPTV licensing system.
