ADB-funded fiber-optic project likely to cut Internet rates in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan

Nepal and three other nations in the SAARC region soon plan to launch a fiber optical cable in Siliguri, India under the Broadband Internet Program, which has got the backing of the ADB (Asian Development Bank). Narayan Prasad Regmi, project director and joint secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications said that ADB would spend $9 million in to the project for increasing Internet speeds in Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
