摘要

Mass grocery retailers in Japan recorded a 18.1% y-o-y growth within the food and drinks category in 2020, surpassing its historic five-year average annual growth rate of 1.7%. While the consumption of ready-to-eat processed foods slowed down over 2020, there was an overall increase in demand for healthy ready-to-eat meals, such as bread and cereal products, as well as a surge in demand for baking ingredients and products during the initial lockdown period. We expect spending on bread and cereal products to continue its strong growth over the medium-term as Japanese consumers look for convenient yet nutritious meals to supplement their busy lifestyles.
