An Introduction to DTMB and DTMB-Advanced

China digital TV development and industrialisation of major projects started in 1999 and a national leading group for digital TV was formed. Right from the first meeting, it was a clear strategy to devise technical standards independent of others. Existing technical features and advantages of Digital TV in China were summarised, addressing the specific application requirements. August 18, 2006 saw the introduction of the standard, GB20600-2006, China's Terrestrial Digital TV transmission standard for Digital Television Terrestrial broadcasting transmission system, defining the frame structure, channel coding and modulation, The project was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering Terrestrial Digital TV standard task force for research. The standard was named "Digital Television Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast", abbreviated as DTMB.
