Technical Review on DTMB-Advanced (DTMB-A) Standard

Digital terrestrial television multimedia broadcasting - advanced (DTMB-A) is digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB) standard proposed by China, which has been accepted by ITU as the international DTTB standard in July, 2015. By adopting several advanced technologies, such as near-capacity channel coding and modulation as well as improved frame structure, DTMB-A can provide fast system synchronization, high receiving sensitivity, better performance against multipath effect, high spectrum efficiency and the flexibility for the future extension. This paper provides a technical overview of the physical layer specification of DTMB-A standard in detail. Laboratory test and field trial results are also given which indicate that DTMB-A standard can offer excellent overall system performance for both fixed and mobile receptions under complicated transmission conditions.
