A20 HFCC Global Coordination Conference

The A20 HFCC Global Shortwave Coordination Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur on 24-28 February. At the conference, delegates from short wave broadcasters and frequency management organisations had an important opportunity to coordinate their frequencies directly with the frequency managers of other broadcasters. Out of the many requirement files submitted, a sizeable number of frequency collisions and interference instances were eliminated by face to face coordination or e-mail coordination with those who were not present at the conference. The conference commenced with an opening plenary session that discussed the programme for the week, and technical procedures for frequency coordination. In a presentation by George Ross from Trans World Radio, the delegates were briefed on DRM Short Wave receiver development status. There are a few receiver models, such as Starwaves, Inntot, Gospel already available in the market and cheaper versions are on the way. Some receiver modules from Cambridge Consultants are in the development phase, and so is the Android version of an App with DSP module.
