NORTH KOREA CRISIS ON HOLD .... FOR NOW

In the wake of Donald Trump's meeting with Kim Jongun in June 2018, the United States (US) suspended and cancelled military exercises with South Korea. In early-November, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford hinted that if there was further progress in the talks, there could be a potential change to the US military presence on the Korean peninsula, where 28,500 troops are currently stationed. Such a move would be welcomed by the Pyongyang government which has been holding out for a reduction in the US presence in its neighbour's territory.
