Reduction of Motion Picture Disturbance for High-Resolution PDP

A new approach is proposed to reduce motional false contour artifacts, or motion picture disturbance, in AC PDP by dynamically controlling the usable gray-scale levels. A limited number of gray-scale levels are selected to form stretched-out coding, which is used in the motion area where disturbance is visible. A disturbance-free condition in the stretched-out coding is discussed and verified thought a simulation by modeling a virtual retina.
