Every year, carmakers introduce new models, boosting further the automobile population worldwide. The continued hike in the number of cars can lead to more accidents, heavier traffic, and further environmental pollution. Amid these circumstances, various automobile-related systems have emerged to step up safety of cars and reduce their environmental load. Many countries are now promoting the construction of intelligent transport systems (ITS). With these activities, the use of car electronics is indispensable to the construction of the systems. For example, more and more automobiles these days come with remote keyless entry (RKE) systems, as a means to enhance convenience and security. These RKE systems function as spare key systems, as the use of two-key systems per vehicle is becoming a standard. The high value-added functions spreading lately include the immobilizer system that requires the electronic authentication of the user for starting the engine and the key-free system that simplifies button operations for RKE.
