Japan - Researchers at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) have developed i~3space, a system that presents a tactile sensation and a kinesthetic sensation in the air when a user views 3D images, and facilitates three-dimensional-ization of multi-touch operations. The system consists of a real-time virtual reality space creation system, a non-base haptic interface using sensory illusion, and a multi-positional tracking system, whichrnmeasures the movement of the fingers using several cameras surrounding the user.
