Anti-Distortion Technology Cuts Energy Use of Optical Fiber Systems

To compensate for waveform distortion caused by nonlinear optical effects in long-haul transmission systems, Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu Laboratories, Limited, and Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. have developed a new digital signal processing algorithm, thus improving the compensation ability per circuit size by 20-fold compared to typical existing technology. This feature has extended the long-haul operating range of optical signals.
