The Connected Industries is a concept that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan advocates. At CeBIT held in March 2017, the promotion of this concept was announced in a Japan-Germany joint statement, the "Hannover Declaration" on the fourth industrial revolution. It aims at the connection of various businesses, companies, people, machines and data, on the basis of which artificial intelligence (AI) creates new added values, products and services, improves productivity, and solves social problems, such as the ageing of society, labor shortage, and environment and energy restrictions.
