SPD, however, does not completely suppress a lightning surge, and a certain amount of residual voltage is always present. There are various sensors and semiconductor devices that have low withstand voltage and are sometimes destroyed because they cannot withstand the voltage surge, even if the voltage is suppressed using an SPD.
