Panasonic Solutions Advance Automotive Electronic Control Boards

Today's electronic devices that support the once-in-a-century transformation of the automotive industry are also undergoing various changes in terms of both quality and quantity. Electronic control boards have been advancing with the trend toward mechatronical integration (Fig. 1). As a long-standing partner of Tier 1 suppliers, Panasonic has been supporting production of state-of-the-art products in manufacturing sites of Tier 1 suppliers of automotive components around the world.Advancement of automotive electronic control boards and solutions based on Panasonic's NPM-WX modular mounter and SPV screen printer will be introduced in two parts: Part 1 in AEI August issue and Part 2 in September issue.Part 1 describes the technological trends of automotive electronics control boards and solutions and Part 2 will describe Panasonic's highly acclaimed dual-lane mounting.There are two main themes required for future automotive electronics control boards (Fig. 2). (1) High-quality mounting of high-current power components accompanying the electrification of powertrains and (2) high-quality, high-density mounting of small components accompanying mass production of sensors and communications modules.The NPM-WX Series can be proposed for the mounting of large, high-profile, odd-formed components. It is capable of mounting the largest-class components in the industry. It supports component height of 40mm in standard specification and 45mm in individual specification (*There are conditions specified by Panasonic).
