Logistics officers have debated the merits of combining Ordnance, Quartermaster, and Transportation Corps officers into one "Logistics branch" ever since the first multifunctional support battalion was established 25 years ago. With today's emphasis on growing "pentath-letes," it is only fitting that the logistics community take a look at what logisticians have been doing for the last 15 years to see if the functional area (FA) 90 multifunctional logistician program is enough or if multifunctional logistics should be taken to a higher level.
