Well here it is March of 2018,6 months after the start of the fiscal year. Congress was able to pass an Omnibus funding bill for FY18 that included defense appropriations. $658B was the final number with a generous plus up for Army Aviation. The passage of the FY18 appropriation is good news for Army Aviation because industry can plan according to the budget numbers and the Army can continue the repair of readiness and move forward with modernizing our fleets. Congressman Martha Roby (Alabama) not only represents Fort Rucker, but she also holds a coveted seat on the defense appropriations sub-committee (HAC-D). It takes many years for a Member of Congress to get a seat on this committee, so we are fortunate to have Army Aviation representation at that level in Congress. After the passage, Congressman Roby told AAAA, "While it is inexcusable that this happened so late, i am pleased that we were ultimately successful in securing much-needed funding for Army Aviation. This important support will benefit the aircrews, maintainers, and our aviation industrial base after many years of cuts. I am committed to continuing this fight in the coming months as the House works on the FY19 budget request."
