Times are changing and the era of Unit Level Logistics System-Aviation (Enhanced) (ULLS-AE) is drawing to a close. Army logistical systems have generated vast amounts of data since transitioning to the digital age nearly two decades ago. It is estimated that the Army has over 7,000 disparate databases that range from the tactical to the strategic levels. Furthermore, in many circumstances, these systems are antiquated, unsynchronized, multilevel and lack the ability to integrate data into useful information in a timely manner. The time has come to transition to a materiel management system that provides a single data source with near real-time information for the functions of supply, accountability, maintenance, and finance. Enter Global Combat Support System-Army, (GCSS-Army) with an end state to provide a multi-echelon authoritative data source that integrates information at or near real-time, into a common operating picture to be used by all levels. So as you read, we ask that you ask yourself these questions: 1. What is the impact to my unit? 2. Will this reduce my workload? 3. How does this increase my situational awareness as a user?
