Data Portal Helps Army Manage War Zone Equipment

A database and resourcing tool stood up by the Army in Iraq has greatly assisted in its efforts to maintain, sustain, and move equipment throughout the theater of operations. Now the Army is working to introduce this tool to the Afghanistan theater of operations. Called the Materiel Enterprise Transition Common Operating Picture (METCOP), the database portal is designed to simultaneously pool information from the deployment, sustainment, and operational elements of equipment management, said LTC Gregory Grzybowski, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Assistant Capability Manager, Tactical Radios.
