The total of identified contracts for export of trainers/operational trainers in the first half of 2009 is estimated at US$ 264 million. This is 8.3% of contracts concluded in 2008 (US$ 3.198 billion). Such a poor performance in the first half of 2009 is explained both by the global economic recession and by the fact that very large contracts to supply trainers/operational trainers were concluded in 2008 (Italy signed contracts worth USS 1.284 billion, the USA-USS 920 million, Brazil - US$ 536 million, and China - US$ 450 million).rnBased on results of the first half of 2009, Brazil is a leader with USS 161 million. The second place belongs to the Czech Republic (USS 103 million). The country has not yet finally settled the issue since the US has not yet officially permitted the export of the Czech L-159B ALCA aircraft.
