This is the second issue of Archives to be published since the decisive vote by BRA members in November 2015 to remain an independent body. It concentrates on the records of sport following the 2015 BRA annual conference, '"In a League of their own"': Archives of the History of British Sport and Physical Recreation'. The BRA is undertaking a raft of changes to ensure that it remains viable, carries out more work and offers more to its members. We are catching up with the backlog of publication and will be publishing Archives on a regular basis from now. Future issues will include papers on the challenges of digital records, as well as the Maurice Bond lecture, being held with the AGM this year on 27 October, when Caroline Shenton, archivist, historian and writer (who has completed a sequel to her book The Day Parliament Burnt Down) will be our Bond lecturer. It is our intention that papers from our next annual conference (at the Linnean Society London, jointly with The Gardens Trust) '"Keeping the memory green": records of small gardens' on 29 November 2016 will also appear.
