INTERMODULATION DISTORTION PRODUCTS IN THE AMPLITUDE MODULATION DOMAIN

In the experiment, the existence of the nonlinear distortion with respect to the amplitude envelope of the signal was examined. It was assumed that the most prominent distortion product is a combination tone in the signal envelope at a modulation frequency of f = 2f_(m1) — f_(m2) as a result of the processing of an amplitude modulated sinusoidal carrier by means of a two-tone complex f_(m1), f_(m2). The results showed that processes that occur in the central hearing system are likely not to be a source of distortions in the amplitude modulation domain.
