Market hall in Rotterdam by MVRDV

The market hall in Rotterdam is not the first roofed market in the Nether-lands, but most likely the first that hopping, eating, living and parking under a colourful, forty-metre high arch. In collaboration with project developer Provast the architecture office of MVRDV attempted to effectively move the bound-aries of this typology and to create a building that is both architecturally con-vincing and, as a new kind of public building, establishes a close relationship to its surroundings.
