Architectural criticism in the salon: From Achleitner to Zschokke

This year ORTE Architecture Network Lower Austria is devoting five salon discussions to writing about building in Austria. "From Achleitner to Zschokke: Architecture Needs Criticism". Under the patronage of these major figures of Austrian architecture journalism this year the ORTE Architecture Network Lower Austria focuses on writing about buildings. On five evenings those who make architecture, describe it or are interested in it are invited to take part in salon discussions on writing about architecture, based on a number of selected articles. This is a complex theme: from the choice of subject to the standpoint that one takes, reveals, remains silent about or changes, the language, images, metaphors and data that one uses to explain buildings, to the contexts which one registers, ignores, excludes or addresses. From all of these conclusions are to be drawn -or possibly not.
