Fascinatingly translucent but not transparent, the new building for the University of Katowice is placed as a "friendly alien" in a rough, but picturesque district. Where once coal and steel and industrial brickwork as a construction material dominated life, today, on a small side street, there stands a building of deliberately puzzling dimensions and functions.
