Between heaven and earth: Cherry Chapel by Doris Dockner in southern Styria

The Klapotetzhügel (hill) in the Harkamp vineyard is an archaic cult site. Architect Doris Docker has crowned it with a delicate Kirschkapelle (Cherry Chapel) full of poetry. The place is magical. Amidst the vines the Harkamp Vineyard Hotel sits high above the bucolic landscape of this hilly region of southern Styria. Today Heinz Harkamp, a passionate cook, runs it as a member of the second generation of owners. He has gradually renovated all the 26 bedrooms. Here he entrusted the design work to architect Doris Dockner, who used natural colours and special bathrooms to give each of the rooms an individual charm.
