Illiz architektur: the renovated Einsiedlerbad in Vienna-Margareten

Margareten, Vienna's 5th municipal district, is densely populated and, compared to the general situation in Vienna, has a low proportion of green space. Consequently, in recent years much has been done in the way of modernizingthe leisure facilities and parks in this district, also with the involvement of the residents. Among the Viennese parks the Einsiedlerpark occupies a special place, as it is bordered by the fifth oldest public baths in the city. Unlike the four older ones this facility is still standing and with its 36 remaining showers until recently it served all those who had no bathroom in their apartments in old buildings. If their electricity and heating had been turned off people came to these baths, which are popularly known as "Tröpferlbad" (trickle baths), explains the friendly woman at the cash desk.
