National Boerenkrijg Museum

The museum, although appearing formally abundant when one sees the plan at first glance, is an example of utmost compositional reduction. Architecture first needs to be experienced from eye level when standing in the landscape: then, the museum merely consists of two walls. Coming in from the street, these walls are precisely positioned on a narrow plot in the interstices of the dense urban sprawl of Flanders. They form a narrow entrance bay with a housekeeper's dwelling on top.
