Concluding the 20th Century: Network Domesticity

If domesticity entered the 20th century as a science, subject to the efficiencies and rationalities of industrialization, it exited into the 21st century as a network of brands and lifestyles. The physical construction of the house was steadily divorced from the domestic realm, evacuated so that it could come back as a symbolic, imagistic, and experiential invocation of domesticity.
