House Looking into the World

摘要

In 2020, the movement of people around the world was restricted, forcing them to stay in their homes-an opportunity for many to think deeply about the meaning of home. While cooped up in my cramped house in Tokyo, as an architect myself, I reflected on the notion of the human home, and the concept of living in general. Rather than trying to make a future prediction about how houses will change after the pandemic, this was a time for me to reexamine what can only be accomplished with houses. During this process, I stumbled upon 2 images of a house. Both images depict mundane, everyday sceneries, but because of this fact, they seem to highlight what can only be done with a house.
