Function varans moral rights: the fight to give the NGA a grand entrance

In 2000, the federal government enacted the Copyright Amendment (Moral Rights) Act 2000 to protect the intellectual property rights of creative artists.There have been a number of controversies since the passage of the legislation: an action by Harry Seidler over alleged derogatory changes by a property owner, and litigation by artist Vladas Meskenas over incorrect attribution by Woman's Day magazine. But perhaps the best known is the long-running dispute between Colin Madigan and the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) over the redesign of a new entry to its building.
