Lost Sulmans

In October 2012 the NSW Chapter Council adopted a policy intended to value award-winning buildings in the long term. Shortly after the policy was introduced yet another Sulman Medal-winning complex was demolished: the St Andrew's Presbyterian Agricultural College at Leppington. Philip Cox and Ian McKay received the 1963 Sulman Medal for its design. The building is well known, and is featured in studies of Australia's architectural history by Max Freeland and Jennifer Taylor, as well as the Institute's architectural guide, 444 Sydney Buildings (by Richard Apperly and Peter Lind).
