Impact of Integrated Multi-Storey Car Park on Surrounding Residential Blocks

The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of the Integrated Car Park (ICP) on the surrounding residential blocks. The study determines the impact on the air quality, acoustics condition, natural ventilation, daylighting, residents' privacy and headlight intrusion. Analysis of the determinants of the magnitude of impact, hopes to highlight the critical crux of design. The findings have concluded that ICPs have significantly affected the living comfort of the residents. The subjective analysis has shown that the greatest effects felt by the residents were the air and noise pollution caused by the motor vehicles. These findings were reiterated in the objective analysis where high pollutant concentrations were found. Flats that are integrated to the car park were subjected to higher pollutant concentration. The main determinants of the toxicity level were found to be the form of integration, the height of elevation and the level of utilization of the car park.
