It is a heartening fact that, without exception, every Emerging Architecture jury has selected a project that goes beyond the purely functional. This year was no exception, with this scheme - named by its architect as the Slider of Joy - winning universal support. As part of a neat but fairly conventional modern residential refurbishment, the slide serves more than its initial purpose.
