A slide type joystick is provided to maximize merit of usage in a mobile terminal such as a portable game, a mobile phone, and a laptop by reducing height of the mobile terminal, and facilitating manipulation, and simply/continuously move a mouse cursor of a laptop. A slide(10) is moved by the manipulation of a user. An external frame(20) surrounds the slide and includes an elastic member keeping a position of the slide. A motion detection substrate(30) generates an electric signal by detecting motion of the slide through contact with the slide. A slide body(11) generally has a plate shape. A pressing member(13) is placed to a lower side of the slide body and transfers the motion of the slide to the motion detection substrate through pressing of the motion detection substrate. A balance keeping member(14) is placed to the lower side of the slide body and keeps balance of the slide.
