CASA VAN THILLO

摘要

This new house overlooking the sea near the Spanish city of Cadiz extends Alberto Campo Baeza's repertoire of beautifully austere dwellings that abstract immemorial Iberian qualities of mass, plainness and impermeability. Constructed from limestone, the two-storey dwelling is partly dug into the site to form an emphatically horizontal podium and viewing platform 'in order to go into raptures in front of the infinite sea', as Campo Baeza puts it. As with all of his work, uncompromising geometry is tempered by sensuality, in the way light moves, the colour or sheen of a particular material and how built form relates to the landscape.
