摘要

Main volume of Tokyo Tech Library was built at basement level on the conjunction of two major axes. One is the Main Building axis which includes wooden deck area with beautiful Cherry blossoms, and another axis is the parallel to the Tokyu Railways. New Plaza, above the library, becomes also the focal point of the university's main circulation. Underground reading space is designed to create a comfortable environment with some skylight and lighting courtyard. Ceiling of bookshelf space at first basement is covered by waveform of precast concrete with soft lighting feature. Ceiling of bookshelf space at second basement is designed by flat slab concrete to unify those two stories bookshelf space. Triangular study building for students is set on the piloti with V-shaped columns. Vertical sun shading louvers at east and west facades of the Triangular study building installed solar panels that can be easily changeable to the renovation.
