摘要

KYOTO Design Lab (D-lab) is space having high flexibility for workshops. Latest digital gadget group is set up on the first floor east side. The office work space in the second floor is sectioned gently by original furniture. It was planned to build D-lab on the center green plaza of the university campus at first. This is because D-lab had to be connected in east Building No.1. However, this center green plaza was a central place of the east campus where students gathered in the shade of a tree. I suggested to save this place and build D-lab in "the void" between an existing ridge and the site boundary line. The width of the "the void" and ground level difference of about 1m from east to west were an opportunity to bring about moderate fluctuation and sound articulation in the long space of 105m. Each indoor space is utilized depending on an event, "the void" of the site that you looked useless was rebuilt as individual and attractive purpose space.
