Location, location, location-increasingly it's the hottest thing in fashion as luxury brands adopt icons of architecture and urbanism as backdrops for their new collections. In early May Chanel models sashayed along Havana's Paseo del Prado, using the historic avenue as a blocks-long runway. Weeks later Louis Vuitton sent its wares down the sinuous red access ramp of Rio de Janeiro's Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum, a UFO-like extravaganza by Brazilian modernist Oscar Niemeyer. And on May 31 Dior beauties paced the parquet at Blenheim Palace, the Oxfordshire seat of the dukes of Marlborough. In every case Instagram went wild as international editors, tastemakers, and celebrities, many flown in by the brands, posted away, as awestruck by the settings as by the clothes.
