New York City (Steady) State

摘要

New York City (Steady) State is a thought experiment, an 'alternative' masterplan for New York City. The project is animated by a very particular predicate, the idea that it is possible (and perhaps desirable) for the city to become completely self-sufficient, its ecological footprint co-terminus with its political boundaries. The origins of the project lie both in a general interest in speculating about the transformation of New York into a place of greater sustainability, equity and beauty, and in a more fundamental enquiry into the nature of autonomous urban respiration and its relationship to city form.
