摘要

Across the world, urban agriculture has become an increasingly common feature of cities, responding to social, environmental and economic concerns. The vast majority of urban farmers produce fruit and vegetables within the city centre using organic principles. There is also an international upsurge of interest in water-based aquaponic systems combining traditional fish farming with contemporary hydroponics; significant prototypes are appearing in many cities and as far afield as Brisbane and Milwaukee.
