A Manifesto. Now?

Proposing a manifesto today has the danger of acquiring a mist of nostalgia for a distant idealism or provocation intended to raise a flag or bait the complacent. But is its apparent quaintness a view beaten down by cynicism or a considered retreat from inflicting a mission from on high? Is it reviving a lost art and if so, why now? Depending on your definition of the term, architects have intermittently written explicit or implicit manifestoes, propositions for architecture's raison or for architecture's part as ammunition in projecting a worldview. Strident in tone, revolutionary in nature, agit-prop that was either destined to fizzle into obscurity or be absorbed into mainstream thought followed with eventual action.
