Congratulations Aquatic Ecosystem Health and Management Society, its president, its boards and all staff at the secretariat

It is a good habit to congratulate people on their birthdays and wish them many happy returns. When possible, one can even send a postcard or give a small present. When a society like Aquatic Ecosystem Health and Management Society (AEHMS) has its "birthday," then what should one do? It is easy to send congratulatory messages to all persons involved in the good work of the society, but that is not really tangible. Therefore it is perhaps of interest to highlight some of the success stories of the organization. Imagine that you attend the second symposium of the GLOW Working Group in Sligo Ireland in the year 2000. Probably no need to tell you what GLOW stands for, but just in case, Great Lakes of the World. As I was working in a fisheries research project on Lake Victoria at the time, it was without hesitation that it was decided to organize the next GLOW Conference in East Africa in 2002.
