摘要

Clay minerals are subject to modification by different types of reagents thanks to their reactive surfaces, and the resulting materials have found applications in a wide range of areas, such as catalysts, nanofillers for polymer, cosmetic products, or as materials for pollution control and in controlled-release formulations. Intercalation is probably the most often used method for modifying clay minerals. In the past decades, different types of intercalated materials based on clay minerals have been obtained and the developments and applications of novel intercalated clay minerals are still the hot topics in clay mineral researches. This special issue of Applied Clay Science is devoted to papers reporting the advances in this research area.
