A new, simple, low cost, paper curl measurement apparatus

The tendency for curl can have a significant impact on a paper's end use performance. Examples of current curl measurement methods, both ISO standards and selected literature methods are discussed. A new, simple, low cost, curl measurement apparatus based on multiple laser lines and a webcam is introduced. Importantly it can characterise both curl magnitude and curl axis angle in a rapid and robust manner suitable to the mill environment.
