Previously, we introduced the concept of an independently center-fed dipole array (ICDA) to overcome phase nonlinearities in many ultrawideband (UWB) and short-pulsed antennas. In this letter, we analyzed the efficiency of ICDA. We designed a two-element ICDA antenna for UWB systems. Extensive simulations were conducted to characterize the antenna in terms of transmission coefficient$S _21$, radiation pattern, and time-domain patterns. The array exhibits linear amplitude and phase in the frequency range from 2.6 to 11.8 GHz, broader than the allocated UWB frequency range of 3.1–10.6 GHz. Such concept may be scalable to a much broader bandwidth.
