FTTH systems are really complementary to HFC systems and not competitive with them. In order to deploy your first FTTH systems, it is not necessary to change anything you are doing in the head end, so you can continue to operate an HFC plant while adding FTTH for business or new-build residential applications. FTTH systems offer superior quality and reliability, and operational costs are a small fraction of what they are with HFC.
