ASSESSMENT OF THE TOXICITY OF MAN-MADE FIBRES: A FINAL REPORT OF A WORKSHOP HELD IN PARIS, FRANCE 3-4 FEBRUARY 1994

Many man-made fibres (MMFs) in use today, and all MMFs introduced into the marketplace of the future, will in the absence of epidemiological data need to be evaluated for their potential to cause biological effects. In 1992, a meeting of experts was organized by WHO-Euro in Copenhagen to examine in vitro and in vivo experimental models which might be used to identify hazards and to quantify the risk of biological effects from exposure to MMFs. So on 3-4 February 1994 more than 130 scientists, government officials and representatives of industry met in Paris, France, for further discussion of the scientific issues.
