The Biometrics Section held its annual business committee meeting at the 2007 JSM in Salt Lake City. The highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the Byar Award ($1,000) winner was Egil Ferkingstad, a PhD student in the Department of Biostatistics, University of Oslo, for the paper "Covariate-Modulated False Discovery Rates." The travel award ($500) winner was Min Zhang, a PhD student in the Department of Statistics, North Carolina State University, for the paper "Improving Efficiency of Inferences in Randomized Clinical Trials Using Auxiliary Covariates." Congratulations to Ferkingstad and Zhang from the Biometrics Section.
