2008 President-elect Sally Morton continues to appoint new chairs and members to the more than 50 ASA committees. Following are the individuals who accepted committee service most recently. First, the ASA saw the appointment of four new committee chairs for 2009. Jerome Reiter of Duke University will sit at the helm of the Committee on Privacy and Statistics, while William Seltzer of Fordham will take over the Committee on Scientific Freedom and Human Rights and Thomas Petska of the IRS will chair the Committee on Professional Ethics in Statistics. Reiter, Seltzer, and Petska are all veteran members of the committees they will now direct. Each of these chairs will be joined by new members. Julia I. Lane of NORC will join the privacy committee, Matthias Schonlau of RAND will serve on scientific freedom, and Steve Bailey of NIST will become a member of professional ethics.
