SuperLine ready to storm added line market

While they've been hootin' and hol-lerin' about their digital subscriber line rollouts, local exchange carriers (LECs) have been quietly raking in dollars by deploying second and third lines to home customers. Two equipment suppliers announced their intention to share the second line pot of gold with the LECs. AG Communications Systems (Phoenix) and Paradyne Corp. (Largo, Fla.) introduced a product that they say will enable LECs to provide subscribers second and third lines, as well as an Ethernet data channel capable of transmitting 500 kbps of Internet protocol (IP)-based data traffic without having to take their trucks out of park.
